The Danville City Jail has been awarded unconditional compliance with approved standards for jails by the Virginia Board of Corrections. The award covers a three-year period.
In addition, the jail received 100 percent on the annual life, health and safety audit.
“Understandably, I am very proud of the supervisors and staff in the jail for their efforts to make this achievement possible,” Danville Sheriff Mike Mondul said Wednesday. “Managing 131 standards for the three-year audit and 43 standards for the annual life, health and safety audit in a jail building in the 1970s is a testament to the commitment to excellence by the men and women who work in the jail.
“I appreciate and applaud the efforts of the men and women who have worked hard to maintain a top notch facility.”
