The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 903 North Main Street this evening at 9:15pm. Crews arrived at 9:17pm and found moderate fire coming from the rear porch of a small one story house. All occupants were out of the building and reported no one inside. Crews pulled an attack line, a backup line and began an offensive attack on the fire. They extinguished the fire on the rear porch and entering the structure. They encountered a small amount of fire in the kitchen around a window and extinguished it. A ventilation fan was set up and an interior search of the structure found no one inside. The fire was quickly extinguished and determined to be under control at 9:45pm.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, one support unit and one fire marshal. Seventeen fire personnel were on the scene for one hour and 37 minutes. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, Danville Electric Department, Danville Water and Gas Department assisted on scene.
The cause of the fire was investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office and determined to be accidental. The house sustained minor fire and smoke damage inside with moderate fire damage to the rear exterior porch. One occupant was treated on scene by the Danville Life Saving Crew for minor burns and released. No other injuries were reported.
