Danville Parks and Recreation’s Music on Main concert series will open in June this year and will feature two concerts a month in June, July and August. The series opens on Thursday, June 8, with high-energy blues and jazz by the Les Moore Trio. This Virginia band performed at last year’s concert series.
Moore, a journeyman St. Louis blues player for more than 20 years, is a singer, guitarist and harmonica player. His guitar style intersperses blues chords and jazz formations. His harmonica stylings intertwine the Midwest and Piedmont influences.
Moore and his band of blues men — Top Greene and Little Bill Greene — have been singing and playing music for a long time. They combine their skills to present not only blues and jazz, but some R&B, soul and a little bit of country too.
The concert series also will feature an Elvis tribute on Thursday, June 22.
All concerts in the series are free and will be held at Main Street Plaza at 111 Main St. The public is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
