[ARCHIVED] City delays boathouse season opening at park

Abreu-Grogan Park

Due to current river conditions, the Abreu-Grogan Boat House will not open for the season this weekend. Regular hours will begin on Saturday, June 3, pending river conditions.

The boat house will be open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. until the end of October; kayaks and stand up paddle boards cost $20 to rent while canoes cost $40. All rentals include proper equipment and floatation devices. Cash and debit/credit cards are accepted on site; a driver’s license is required at the time of a rental.

Also on June 3, Danville Parks and Recreation will host Boat Demo Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free to attend and during that time, customers can test out watercraft for $5.

Boats can be reserved Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by visiting the Community Recreation Division Offices in the City Auditorium, 125 N. Floyd Street. For more information, call (434) 799-5150.
