[ARCHIVED] Entertainment, fireworks set for Fourth Celebration

Danville Parks and Recreation will host its annual Fourth of July Celebration on Tuesday, July 4, beginning with a trail run and ending with a grand fireworks display at the Crossing.

The day’s events will begin at 8 a.m. at Anglers Park for the Danville Regional Medical Center Patriot Challenge, a 5k/10k trail run and Children’s Fun Run. The 5K and 10K cost $25 and the children’s run is $5 (all races cost $5 more the day of the event). The first 75 who register will receive a beach towel. An ice cream social will follow the race. Runners can register by calling (434) 793-4636 or online at www.PlayDanvilleVA.com. The race is sponsored by Danville Regional Medical Center, Danville Parks and Recreation and Danville Running and Fitness Club.

The July Fourth Celebration at the Crossing will kick off at 6 p.m. and will feature free entertainment, arts and crafts and Captain Jim’s Magical Illusion Show. Entry into the Crossing will be free. Food concessions and amusement rides will be available (ATM on site). This year’s entertainment will be Danville Symphony Orchestra. Fireworks will begin at dusk, weather permitting.

The July Fourth Celebration is sponsored by URW Community Federal Credit Union, J&J Equipment Rentals and Sales, J&J Truck Sales, Inc and Danville Parks and Recreation.
