The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 447 Brightwell Drive this evening at 9:15 pm. Crews arrived at 9:19 pm and found light smoke coming from the rear of a one story house. Engine 2’s crew circled the structure and found a small pile of debris smoldering. A small outside storage closet had caught fire and was extinguished by the home owner before the fire department arrived. Engine 2’s crew used a water fire extinguisher to put out the remaining fire and it was determined to be under control at 9:22 pm. The attic and basement were searched and no fire extension was found inside the house. The house sustained minor fire damage to the exterior.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, one support unit. Seventeen fire personnel were on the scene for 28 minutes.
The cause of the fire was investigated and determined to be discarded
cooking materials. No injuries were reported.
