The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure
fire at 301 Cathy Drive this afternoon at 2:22 pm. Crews arrived at 2:26 pm and
found light smoke coming out the of the side door of a medium sized two story house.
Engine 2’s crew entered the house and found a fire on the stove extending up
into kitchen cabinets. They used a fire extinguisher and extinguished the fire.
The fire was determined to be under control at 2:30 pm. A fan was set up to
ventilate the structure. The house was then searched to confirm no one was
inside. The kitchen sustained moderate fire damage with the rest of the house sustaining
smoke damage.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a
ladder truck, a command unit, one support unit. Sixteen fire personnel were on
the scene for just over 1 hour. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police
Department, Danville Electric Department, Danville Water and Gas Department
assisted on scene.
The cause of the fire was investigated and determined to be
unattended cooking. No injuries were reported.
