Danville Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce that Community Program Coordinator Morgan Kerns and Sports and Athletic Program Coordinator Justin Price have each earned the distinction of Certified Parks and Recreation Professional through the National Recreation and Park Association.
“This is a well-deserved distinction; all of our staff work hard at what they do and Justin and Morgan have proven time and again they love serving this community,” said Department Director Bill Sgrinia.
The professional level certification assures that professionals in the field of Parks and Recreation are in tune with and are practicing the most modern techniques and best practices in the profession.
Price, who joined the department in 2013, oversees youth sport leagues, assists with field usages and coordinates athletic programs such as adult softball and kickball. Kerns began working at Danville Parks and Recreation in 2016 and coordinates various programs such as Yappy Hour, Teen Tournaments, RecMobile, Fun Wagon, Dirty Dan Dash and Glow with the Flow among other activities.
Kerns and Price join Sgrinia and Community Recreation Division Director Jason Bookheimer as Certified Professionals.
“Our goal is to provide the best service possible to the community,” Sgrinia said. “This certification program is just one tool of many that we use to assure our staff are meeting the growing needs of Danville and surrounding areas.”
