[ARCHIVED] Cash prizes arranged for Market Monster Mash

Thanks to a partnership with several local businesses, Danville Parks and Recreation will be offering cash prizes for the best decorated trunk and the best carved pumpkins during the upcoming Market Monster Mash on Oct. 31.

The Market Monster Mash will start at 5 p.m. at the Community Market and will feature, trunk-or-treat, Halloween activities, a pets-and-kids costume parade and a free movie. The event is free and open to the public.

During the Monster Mash, a $200 cash prize will be given for the best decorated trunk and cash prizes for the adults and teens pumpkin carving contest; $85 for first prize, $65 for second and $50 for third. Both contests are free to enter and are open to anyone ages 16 and up. To register, call (434) 793-4636 or visit PlayDanvilleVA.com. All pumpkins have to be carved on site; pumpkins and carving supplies will be made available.

Parks and Recreation welcomes all organizations and individuals to participate in the trunk-or-treat. Set up will begin at 5 p.m. and will end at 5:45 p.m. All treats must be individually wrapped.
