[ARCHIVED] Craghead Street paving set for next week

Traffic alert sign

Paving operations will require lane closures next week on Craghead Street from Newton Street to the railroad underpass. Motorists are urged to slow down and be alert to altered traffic patterns or consider an alternate route.

Milling and paving is scheduled to begin on Monday and will take four days to complete, weather permitting.

The work is one of the final steps of the fourth phase of streetscape improvements in the River District. Construction is expected to be completed in January, weather permitting.

The fourth phase included the installation of storm drains to mitigate flooding along the street. The project also included utility upgrades, replacement and new installation of sidewalks and curb and gutter, and installation of amenities such as trees, benches and new lighting. Work crews are in the process of completing work on the sidewalks, as well as the landscaping amenities.

Quality Construction is the contractor.
