The Danville Fire Department responded to a call at 705 Piney Forest Road Wednesday afternoon at 3:09 PM for a suspicious package investigation. Engine 2 arrived on scene, set up incident command and started the investigation. Engine 7, HazMat 1, Battalion 1 and 2 also responded with the assistance from the Danville Police Department, Va.State Police, Va. Department of Emergency Management and the Danville Life Saving Crew. All occupants were evacuated from the facility and medically evaluated as needed. The package in question was turned over to the Va. State Police to be analyzed and retained for further investigation as needed. The facility was deemed safe by the HazMat Team and turned back over to the occupant. The incident lasted approximately two and one half hours and there were no reported injuries.
