A public information meeting will be held on Friday, March 23, to present an overview of findings from a recent study of the Dan River and the Smith River. The meeting begins at 2 p.m. at the Institute for Advance Learning and Research.
Dr. Dan Gallagher of Virginia Tech’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Department will make the presentation.
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation awarded a grant to Virginia Tech to collect extensive data of water quality in these two rivers. The study was in response to unusual taste and odor events during 2015 in drinking water for the City of Danville and Town of South Boston (Halifax County Service Authority), which use the Dan River as a source for potable water.
