Danville
Police Chief Scott Booth and other police staff will hold a community
engagement walk Thursday afternoon, March 22, in the neighborhoods
adjacent to G.L.H. Johnson Elementary School.
The walk will
begin at 2 p.m. at the picnic shelter located on the northwest corner of G.L.H. Johnson Elementary School property along Northmont Boulevard. From the school, Booth
and his staff will divide into teams and go door to door to houses on Northmont
Boulevard, Melrose Avenue, Glendale Avenue and others in the immediate vicinity as time allows.
This area was
chosen as the second in a series of walk locations due its close proximity to a
recent shooting event reported on Feb. 14 that occurred very
near the school.
These walks serve as a platform to build public trust and develop positive
relationships between officers and community members.
