The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1468 Myrtle Ave this morning at 3:41 am. Crews arrived at 3:45 am and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of a medium sized two-story house. Engine 5’s crew pulled a 1¾” fire hose and began an offensive operation attacking the fire. Engine 1’s crew secured a water supply for Engine 5 and then pulled an additional hose line for extinguishment. Ladder 1’s crew shut down utilities to the structure, set up a fan for ventilation and searched the house for occupants. The fire was quickly knocked down and determined to be under control at 3:57 am. The house sustained moderate fire and smoke damage to the rear of the structure on both the first and second floors.
The occupants were not home at the time of the fire.
The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, one support unit and one Fire Marshal. Eighteen fire personnel were on the scene for 2 hours and 20 minutes. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, Danville Electric Department and the Danville Water and Gas Department assisted on scene.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s office. No injuries were reported.
