Once again, Danville Parks and Recreation is seeking input on the new pieces that will comprise the 2018 Danville Art Trail in an online vote.
Recently, a jury comprised of several community members and professional artists selected seven new pieces to be installed on the Art Trail later this summer. The panel also selected five additional pieces, two of which will also be installed after a public vote.
Voting will close on June 25, and, after the artists are notified, the winners, along with the seven jury-selected pieces, will be announced to the public.
The five sculptures included in the online vote include “Big Bonsai” by Matt Amante, “Koi Bench” by Jim Gallucci, “Nature” by Wayne Vaughn, “Spiraling Away” by Hanna Jubran, and “Triad” by Scott Strader.
Images and descriptions of the pieces are available online at www.PlayDanvilleVA.com/DanvilleArtTrail. One vote per person. Ballots incorrectly cast will be eliminated from the results.
The Danville Art Trail was unveiled in the spring of 2015 and consisted of seven pieces of art in various locations throughout the River District and along the Riverwalk Trail. The original art was on display for a little over 18 months and then replaced with nine new pieces in January 2017. This year’s group will feature nine new pieces.
