The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure
fire at 126 Burwood Place this morning at 6:19 am. Crews arrived at 6:21 am and
found moderate smoke coming from the front of a medium sized 1-story house. Engine
5’s crew pulled 1¾” fire hose and began attacking the fire. Engine 1’s crew
secured a water supply for Engine 5 and then pulled an additional hose line for
extinguishment. Ladder 1’s crew set up a
fan to ventilate the structure, secured utilities to the structure and then
searched the house for occupants. The fire was knocked down and determined to
be under control at 6:30 am. The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage in
the kitchen and heavy smoke damage throughout the structure. The occupants of
the house was safely located outside of the house.
The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a
ladder truck, a command unit, one support unit and one Fire Marshal. Sixteen fire
personnel were on the scene for 2 hours. The Danville Life Saving Crew,
Danville Police Department, Danville Electric Department and the Danville Water
and Gas Department assisted on scene.
The cause of the fire was investigated by the Fire Marshal’s
office and determined to be unattended cooking. No injuries were reported. The
family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
