The Police Department will hold its next community engagement day on Thursday, July 26, at Danville Family Homes, which is located 100 Joanis Drive. The event will include games, music, food and discussions on alternatives to bullying and violence.
Festivities begin at 4 p.m. and continue to 7 p.m., and they will be held at the office, community room and other locations within the neighborhood.
Sponsors include Soundwave Entertainment, Family Funzone, Danville Parks and Recreation, wrestler Natalina Corvino and Lucks Boxing Gym.
The event is one in a series conducted by the Police Department’s Community and Youth Engagement Unit. Police Chief Scott Booth established the unit earlier this year to focus on crime prevention and community education, youth and community engagement, and blight and nuisance abatement.
The first community engagement day was held on May 31 at Purdum Woods Apartments. Since then, community and youth engagement events have been held at Cardinal Village, Woodside Village, Bibleway Church, Pleasant View Avenue, the Danville Boys and Girls Club and the Danville Family YMCA.
