On Thursday, Sept. 6, Danville Utilities will begin replacing cast iron water and gas mains on Loyal, Wilson and Newton Streets and on side streets between Court Street and Jefferson Avenue and Jefferson Street.
The project is estimated to take six months to complete, weather permitting. Plastic mains will replace the existing cast iron water and gas mains. Danville Utilities’ water and gas division crews will perform the work.
Construction will start on Loyal Street at Jefferson Avenue. Crews will install eight-inch water and four-inch gas mains on the north side of Loyal Street in parking lane, working their way down toward Court Street.
This project is phase 19 of the City’s cast iron replacement program. Motorists are urged to slow down and be alert to altered traffic patterns.
