The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1927 Halifax Rd just before 1am . Three engines, one ladder truck a safety officer and a chief officer responded. Upon arrival units found a downstairs apartment, in a two story apartment building, with heavy smoke coming from the door. All occupants were outside the building with one occupant suffering from minor burns and smoke inhalation. Crews made entry to the apartment to find a fire on the stove extending to the cabinets above. The fire was quickly extinguished. The fire didn't extend to any other apartments and smoke was removed. All other occupants were able to return to their apartments once the smoke was cleared. The injured occupant was transported to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, unattended cooking by the fire marshal . Units were on the scene approximately two hours.
