The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a probable house fire at 124 Druid Lane this afternoon at 3:53pm. Engine 3 arrived in less than 5 minutes and saw moderate smoke showing from the eaves all the way around the house. During their walk-around of the single-story residence they could see fire in the first room off the carport. As other apparatus arrived firefighters made entry in the house and extinguished the fire in the family room. The fire did not extend out of the room. Fire was controlled quickly. The search of the home found no occupants.
The house received smoke damage on the first floor and in the basement. Fire damage was limited to the contents of the room and one window frame. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire. At this time the cause is unknown. The DFD responded with three engines, one ladder, and three support vehicles. A total of 16 personnel remained on scene for one hour and forty-five minutes. The DFD was supported by Danville Power & Light, Danville Police Dept., and the Danville Life Saving Crew.
