Danville, VA Fire Department Media Releases

[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire 104 North Hills Ct.


Danville Fire Department received a call of a reported structure fire with occupants trapped inside, at the Southwyck Hills Apartments, 104 North Hills Ct. The call was received at 05:59 am. Units responded from Lynn Street, Piney Forest Road, West Main and Westover stations. The fire unit from Industrial Avenue was already on a call. Units arrived to find a three story apartment building with fire and heavy smoke showing from a third story apartment. Hose lines were deployed. An additional two units were requested, one from Lynn Street Station and the other from Industrial Avenue Station. Units made a quick knock down on the fire and completed searches for occupants. No occupants were found to be trapped. One aerial truck, five engines and six support vehicles were involved in the response from the fire department. Danville P/D, Danville Electric, Danville Water, Danville Life Saving Crew and the Red Cross were also involved in the response. A total of 37 fire personnel were on scene from both A-Shift and C-Shift. A total of six apartments were affected. One apartment received heavy fire damage, another apartment received smoke damage and the remaining apartments received water or other damage. Three families requested assistance from the Red Cross. The remaining occupants made arrangement for themselves.
