The Public Works Department is making available the tree trunks it has collected from Tropical Storm Michael for use as firewood. The tree trunks are being placed outside the fence of the Bishop Road entrance to the former Schoolfield plant of Dan River Inc.
The firewood is available at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis. Citizens wanting the firewood will have to cut and load the firewood.
The Schoolfield site is serving as a temporary storage area for storm debris. Citizens are not allowed to go inside the fenced area.
