Charges have been brought in an August 2018 elder neglect case.
On 8-11-18 at approximately 9:51 pm, Danville Police and the Danville Life Saving Crew responded to a residence in the 100 block of Park Ave. for a report of a female in cardiac arrest. Dorothy Jean George, age 71, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. George suffered from various health issues. Due to the conditions in the home and circumstances surrounding the initial call for EMS, detectives were notified and responded to investigate further.
The case was presented to a grand jury this week, and an indictment was issued against the caretaker and granddaughter of the deceased, 33-year-old Brenda Ann Gomez-Lazarski for abuse of incapacitated adult resulting in a death and felony homicide.
She was arrested without incident and is currently being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.
