[ARCHIVED] Structure fire on Halifax Road

The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 907 ½ Halifax Road this morning at 7:32 am. Crews arrived at 7:36 am and found a small one story residence fully involved with fire.   Engine 7’s crew pulled a hand line and began a defensive attack to extinguish of the fire, while Engine 1’s crew secured a water supply for the Ladder truck and then pulled an additional hand line for extinguishment.  Ladder 1’s crew placed the aerial into service flowing water into the structure from an elevated nozzle.   Electrical utilities were secured by the Electric Dept.  Initial reports stated that the residence is a vacant building but there may be a person inside the residence but not confirmed.   Danville Police Dept. later located the person safely at another location and advised fire units of this information. 

The fire was knocked down and determined to be under control at 9:06 am. The house sustained major fire and water damage and the building will be condemned.

The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, a support unit, rehab unit and a Fire Marshal. Seventeen fire personnel were on the scene for 3 hours and 45 minutes. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Electric Dept., and Danville Police Department assisted on scene.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s office.
