The Danville Transit System will hold two public information meetings on Monday, Jan. 28, about proposed regional bus service for Pittsylvania and Halifax counties. The purpose of these meetings is to obtain public input on the proposed bus service, which is subject to the approval of a request for a state demonstration grant.
The meetings will be held at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Recreation Center of the Ballou Park Senior Citizens Center, 760 W. Main St.
The proposed service would include two different fixed routes that would serve multiple bus stop locations in the counties and connect at Danville Transit’s Transfer Center on Spring Street.
Also, in certain areas along the routes, all passengers would be able to request the bus service to go off route within one-fourth of a mile to board and disembark at different locations. Persons with disabilities would be able to request bus service within three-fourths of a mile of the proposed routes to board and disembark at different locations.
All interested persons are invited to attend these meetings and provide written and or oral comments and ask questions concerning the proposed changes. Written comments may be submitted to Marc Adelman, P.O. Box 3300, Danville, Virginia 24543 or at adelmmd@danvilleva.gov.
If you need a sign language interpreter, large print materials or other ADA or Limited English Proficiency accommodations in order to participate, please call 434-799-5110 or email adelmmd@danvilleva.gov by Thursday, Jan. 24.
