Danville Police officers walked door-to-door Tuesday in the Third Avenue neighborhood. The community engagement walk was the third of the year and the department’s 14th since these events began.
The police officers were joined by staff members from the Fire Department, Public Works Department, and Commonwealth Attorney’s Office.
They talked with residents about their needs and how the departments can make the neighborhood a safer and better place.
The community engagement walks serve as a platform to build public trust and develop positive relationships between officers and community members. Previous walks have been held in the following neighborhoods: Cardinal Village, G.L.H. Johnson Elementary School, Old West End, Woodrow Wilson school, Almagro, Woodside Village Apartments, Cedarbrook, Henry Street, White Rock, Druid Hills, and Windsor Heights. In addition, a walk was held last month along Main Street to reach out to businesses.
