The cause of the fire was determined to be unattended cooking. Unattended cooking is the number 1 cause of fire in the United States. The Fire Marshal's Office wants to remind citizens of the dangers of leaving cooking unattended.

At approximately 1:30 am the morning of April 2, 2019 the Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1707 N. Main St. Units arrived to find the house already well involved. All of the occupants were safely out of the home prior to the arrival of the Fire Department. The 2 alarm fire destroyed the house and caused damage to the neighbors home as well. The fire department responded with 4 Engines, 1 Ladder, Chief officer and 2 support vehicles. Units are still remaining on the scene at the time due to the amount of damage and firefighters not being able to safely access the structure.
