Danville Police officers walked door-to-door on Monday in the Westover Manor neighborhood. The community engagement walk was the fourth of the year and the department’s 15th since these events began.

The walk included the Westover Manor Trailer Court and the Westover Trailer Court. Police officers were joined by staff members from the Fire Department, Sheriff’s Office, and Sacred Heart Church.

They talked with residents about their needs and how the departments can make the neighborhood a safer and better place.

The community engagement walks serve as a platform to build public trust and develop positive relationships between officers and community members. Previous walks have been held in the following neighborhoods: Cardinal Village, G.L.H. Johnson Elementary School, Old West End, Woodrow Wilson school, Almagro, Woodside Village Apartments, Cedarbrook, Henry Street, White Rock, Druid Hills, Windsor Heights and Third Avenue. In addition, a walk was held earlier this year along Main Street to reach out to businesses.
