Yesterday, a Danville grand jury handed down indictments on John Robert Shore, age 30, for felony homicide and abuse and neglect of children. These indictments stem from an incident that took place in January 2019 on Doolittle St. Officers were called to the SOVAH Health emergency room on January 23, 2019, for a one-year-old child who was suffering from head trauma and was unresponsive. Her father, John Shore, had taken her to the emergency room for medical treatment. Detectives immediately began an investigation into potential child abuse and neglect. The child was transferred to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital later that evening where she died on January 25, 2019. This extensive investigation relied heavily on the child’s medical records and collaboration with the Western District Medical Examiner’s Office and the Danville Commonwealth Attorney’s Office. The medical examiner’s office determined that the child died from repeated blunt force trauma and subsequently ruled it a homicide. Patrick County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Danville Police Detectives arrested John Robert Shore without incident this afternoon in the parking lot of Wal-mart in Stuart, VA. He was transported to the Danville City Jail where he is being held without bond.
