Over the past week, the Danville Police Department in partnership with the Virginia State Police rolled out an initiative called “Safe Streets Southside.” The goal of this initiative is to continue focused crime reduction efforts in the City of Danville.
The Danville Police Department values partnerships, and this initiative is a continuation of a strong partnership between the Danville Police Department and the Virginia State Police.
During the Safe Streets Southside initiative, citizens can expect increased uniform and patrol vehicle presence from the City of Danville Police Department and the Virginia State Police.
The purpose of the Safe Streets Southside initiative is to address both federal criminal code and Virginia state code violations of law that are clearly connected to crimes of violence, weapons violations, narcotics violations, and criminal street gang activity.
Additional partners in this initiative include the United States Attorney’s Office, the City of Danville Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
