[ARCHIVED] Police set up gang and violent crime tip line

Capture

The Danville Police Department, in conjunction with Danville Crime Stoppers, a local non-profit organization, would like to announce a new partnership, the Gang and Violent Crime Tip Line. This effort is another tool aimed at further reducing crime and gang affiliation in the Danville area.

The Gang and Violent Crime tip line will be a partnership created using the Danville Crime Stoppers line at 434-793-0000, or tips can be anonymously emailed to the Danville Police Department crime tips line at crimetips@danvilleva.gov

By adding the Gang and Violent Crime Tip Line, the Police Department hopes citizens will feel freer to make it aware of potential threats to the community whether large or small. Information such as identities of gang members and hangouts and illegal drug and firearm dealers and their locations and identities, as well as information such as the identity of a teenager being recruited into a gang, would help make Danville a safer place. Identities and address of at-risk teens who have become involved with drugs or gangs can potentially be diverted through the Danville Police Department’s ongoing community partnerships. These anonymous tips could potentially have a huge impact on the youth and community as a whole.

Crime Stoppers has been a longstanding partner with the Danville Police Department and assisted in solving many criminal cases over the decades through community member’s tips. This is an expanded role for Crime Stoppers and a continuation of efforts to bring suspects to justice through partnering with the community. Anonymous information may lead to cash rewards as well.
