With Pittsylvania County Schools graduation ceremonies set for Friday evening and Saturday at Averett University’s north campus, the Danville Police Department reminds motorists to expect heavy traffic in the area.
Dan River High School’s graduation ceremony takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, May 24. On Saturday, May 25, Tunstall High School’s graduation is scheduled at 9 a.m., followed by Gretna High School at 1 p.m. and Chatham High School at 6 p.m.
Heavy traffic along Mount Cross Road, as well as Piedmont Drive, Riverside Drive, and Westover Drive, is expected prior to and following each graduation, police said on Tuesday.
Also, the Police Department warns of heavy traffic on Friday evening along streets in the vicinity of George Washington High School. Danville Public Schools will hold graduation ceremonies for Galileo students on Friday, May 24, at 7 p.m. at the GW auditorium.
Motorists are advised to slow down and proceed with caution, allow ample time to reach their destination, or consider alternate routes.
