The Danville Children’s Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, at the Carrington Pavilion, 629 Craghead St. The event will feature a talent showcase, amusement rides, crafts, a splash zone, and tubing rides on the river.
Admission is free. Food concessions and other vendor items will be available for purchase.
This year, the 3EBoyz will host a talent showcase at 12:30 p.m. on the Carrington Pavilion stage. Performers ages 17 and under will be showcasing their singing and dancing skills. The Edmunds Brothers will be emceeing the event.
The Splash Zone will return with the fun wagon sprinkler, a water slide, kiddie pools, a sand pile with toys, and free tubing trips on the river (weather permitting).
River District Artisans will have ice cream cone, fork, thumb, and finger painting activities in the Pepsi Building during Children's Festival. To reserve a spot for the ice cream cone painting, call (434) 228-4125. Classes will be held at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. The other painting crafts are walk-up activities. There is no cost for painting activities.
The Scrap Exchange is bringing its Make-n-Take program back to the Children's Festival. This activity allows kids to use their imagination to create anything they can think of out of recycled materials
Other activities include a racing simulator, caricatures, Fish the Magish, and a sensory tent from Center for Pediatric Therapies.
The Danville Science Center will have free admission during the Children's Festival. The Science Center has a new exhibit, Crescent Crossing, for ages five and under.
