[ARCHIVED] Augusta Ave. Fire Press Release

The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 46 Augusta Avenue this afternoon at 3:49 pm. Crews arrived and found fire coming from the front and left side first story windows of a small sized 1-story house. No occupants were home at the time of the initial call.  Engine 4’s crew pulled 1¾” fire hose, and entered the house to locate the fire. Engine 3’s crew secured a water supply for Engine 4.  Ladder 1’s crew then set up a fan to ventilate the structure, secured utilities to the structure and then searched the house for occupants. Engine 3’s crew then pulled a backup line. The fire was located in the front room and Engine 4’s crew began extinguishing the fire.

The fire was knocked down and determined to be under control at 4:04 pm. The house sustained moderate fire damage in the front room and smoke damage throughout the first floor.

The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, one-support unit, one rehab unit and one Fire Marshal. Nineteen fire personnel were on the scene for 2 hours and 38 minutes. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department and Danville Electric Department assisted on scene.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s office.  The occupants will be assisted by the American Red Cross.
