[ARCHIVED] Police hold 10th community walk of year

Danville Police officers on Tuesday, Oct. 22, walked door-to-door in the Macon Street/Hartford Street neighborhood. The community engagement walk was the 10th of the year and the department’s 21st since these events began.

Police officers were joined by members of the Fire Department, Commonwealth’s Attorney Office, Adult Detention, and Emergency Operations Center.

The community engagement walks serve as a platform to build public trust and develop positive relationships between officers and community members. During the walk, Police talk with residents about their concerns and what the department is doing to address them.

This year, walks have been held in the following neighborhoods: Virginia Avenue, Westover Manor, Third Avenue, Windsor Heights, Lee and Riverview, and Girard streets as well as the Main Street business community.

In 2018, walks were in the neighborhoods surrounding Cardinal Village, G.L.H. Johnson Elementary School, Old West End, Woodrow Wilson School, Almagro, Woodside Village Apartments, Cedarbrook, Henry Street, White Rock, Seminole Trail. and Druid Hills.
