The Danville Fire Department responded to a Structure Fire on Sherwood Dr in North Danville on Thursday 2-20-2020 at 412pm. Engine 5, from the Third Ave station, was first to arrive on the scene and reported light smoke showing at the front door. Engine 5 investigated further and found fire in the kitchen. The fire was extinguished quickly. There was moderate damage to the kitchen. The cause of the fire was determined to be unattended cooking. The Fire Department was on the scene for approximately 1 hour
The occupants will not be able to stay in the house until repairs are made and they will be staying with family members.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 20 Personnel - 3 Engines, 1 Ladder Truck, 1 safety vehicle, 1 Command vehicle and 2 Staff vehicles.
Danville Police Department, Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Water /Gas Department, and Danville Electric Department asssited on the scene.
