The Danville Police Department wishes to inform our community about yesterday’s order from the Governor and State Health Commissioner that restricts the number of patrons allowed in restaurants, fitness centers and theaters to 10 or less.
The Department is committed to protecting the health and safety of our community against the spread of the COVID-19 virus and we respectfully ask that our local businesses and patrons honor this order. We appreciate that many local establishments have already made accommodations to comply with this order and we want to say “Thank you.”
The issuance of this order underscores the seriousness of the threat that the COVID-19 virus represents to our community and the Code of Virginia provides for misdemeanor punishment for violations of the order.
The Danville Police Department understands the hardship that this order places on our businesses and their employees. We hope that our community will not put its officers in the unfortunate position of having to take enforcement actions for violations of this order.
