[ARCHIVED] 03-18-2020 Detention facilities restrict visitation

Picture1

The Danville Police Department has instructed its two detention facilities, Adult Detention Center and W.W. Moore, Jr. Juvenile Detention, to enact measures to limit the potential spread of COVID -19 in an effort to protect the health and well-being of their respective custodial populations. Effective immediately, the following measures are enacted:

Adult Detention Center:

  1. Inmate visitation suspended until further notice
  2. All vendors and approved visitors, such as lawyers, will be screened for COVID-19. Anyone refusing to do so will not be allowed enter the facility
  3. All new inmates will be screened before entering the facility
  4. Facility cleaning will continue to be completed daily using a hospital-grade ammonia-based disinfectant
  5. All staff and inmates working within the facility will follow the CDC and Health Department recommendations for personal sanitation and use of personal protective equipment before entering work and food service areas
  6. An inmate who exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 will be placed in a designated, separate housing area
  7. The ADC medical team will continue to monitor staff, vendors, and inmates entering and residing at ADC and will take the recommended steps should an individual be diagnosed with COVID-19

W.W. Moore Jr. Detention Home:

  1. Suspension of volunteer programs and parent/grandparent visitations
  2. Additional opportunities for telephone calls and letter writing will be provided during this time to maintain family contact
  3. Probation Officers, Social Workers and Attorneys may still visit, but have the option for telephone contacts or to use the video court system for contacts

The Police Department will re-evaluate these conditions periodically to determine if any adjustments are necessary based on the COVID-19 circumstances at that time. Anyone having questions concerning specific visitation policies at either facility should contact the facility directly.
