The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 902 Jefferson Street this morning at 5:45am. The 911 dispatchers advised police were on scene and the building was fully involved. DFD apparatus arrived at 5:49am to find a large one-story garage with heavy fire venting through the entire roof. Ladder 1 was set up and all fire operations remained outside the building. Additional exterior handlines were set up outside the structure. Buildings on both sides were not involved. As of 9:00am three engines, one ladder, and several support vehicles remain on scene. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police, and Danville Utilities are assisting.
DFD personnel will remain on scene for several more hours. The cause of the fire will be determined once the fire is out and the structure is safe to enter. Industrial Avenue is closed until further notice due to fire apparatus and fire hose blocking all four lanes of traffic.
