UPDATE AT NOON THURSDAY: We have reopened Union Street Bridge. The section on the south side of the bridge where the water main break occurred on Tuesday afternoon remains closed, but motorists can access the bridge.
ORIGINAL POST ON WEDNESDAY:
Union Street Bridge remains closed due to the water main break that occurred yesterday afternoon on the south side of the bridge at Memorial Drive.
Utility crews worked today to remove the damaged pipe and install a new pipe. This evening, a crew will backfill the hole.
The bridge, however, will remain closed until the section can be repaved.
