The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 141 New Ingram Rd. at approximately 11:18 pm.
There were multiple phone calls received by the 911 dispatch center regarding smoke in several of the apartments. Upon arrival units found light smoke in the common hallway of the multi-unit apartment building. Units were advised that two of the occupants were in separate apartments and had limited mobility.
Firefighters from both Engine-6 and Engine-2 quickly located the occupants and moved them to safety. Additional Firefighters from Engine-4 and Engine-3 entered the structure and performed a rapid search for additional occupants of the building, however all other occupants had exited the structure. Firefighters with Ladder-1 found the source of the smoke to be a stove fire in a lower level apartment.
Crews were on the scene for approximately three hours checking for any hidden fire and removing trapped smoke from the building before the tenants could return to their apartments. The Danville Fire Department responded to the incident with nineteen personnel on four engines, one ladder truck, a safety officer and two Battalion Chief’s. The Danville Life Saving Crew also responded with five personnel and two ambulances. No injuries were reported and damage to the residence was moderate.
