The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 11:47 pm with possible victims trapped inside. Engine 5’s crew arrived to a medium sized, one story house located at 128 American Legion Boulevard; finding heavy smoke showing throughout the structure and fire coming from the roof and bedroom windows. Engine 5’s crew entered the house to initiate a search for trapped occupants, assisted by Firefighters from Ladder 1, and found no trapped victims inside the structure. Prior to the Fire Department’s arrival, neighboring family members had assisted three occupants out of the house after their child heard the smoke alarm when he arrived for a visit. Four persons were injured. One suffered minor injuries not requiring transport for further treatment. Three occupants suffered significant injuries and were treated and transported by the Danville Life Saving Crew.
The fire was found in the bedroom and extinguished. The house sustained heavy smoke and fire damage. Three pets were rescued by fire department personnel.
The Danville Fire Department remained on scene until 3:25 am. Three engines, one ladder, and four support vehicles responded. Nineteen personnel were on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshalls office.
