The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on fire at 530 Church Avenue this morning. Apparatus arrived at 3:25am and found a one-story house with heavy fire coming through the roof. Firefighters attacked the fire from the outside due to the amount of fire in the house. The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes. Personnel checked the floors to the house from the basement and determined it was not safe to enter at anytime. Personnel remain on scene at this time. The DFD responded with three engines (Westover Dr., Piney Forest Rd., and West Main St.), one ladder truck (Lynn St.), one safety officer, and one chief officer.
The occupant and his dog were not home at the time of the fire. The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. There are no injuries on the scene. The DFD received assistance from the Danville Life Saving Crew, the Danville Police Department, and Danville Utilities.
