Danville Fire Department Responded to a reported structure fire at 2946 West Main St. at 8:02 pm Friday night. Upon arrival crews found a two story apartment building with heavy fire and smoke showing from the roof. The building which contained 24 apartments was quickly evacuated of all occupants. The ladder truck was set up and placed on the roof so that crews could prevent further extension. While crews made an interior attack and were able to bring the fire under control with severe fire damage to two second floor apartments. Six other apartments received damage in the way of smoke, heat, and water. The occupants of eight apartments were displaced. Some are staying with family and friends along with some who were assisted by the Red Cross, who provided shelter. Four engines, one ladder truck, one safety officer and three chief officers were on scene for five and a half hours. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the, Danville Fire Department, Fire Marshall.
