[ARCHIVED] Residence fire on Seminole Trail

The Danville Fire Department responded to a residence fire at 365 Seminole Trail today at 12:02pm. Engine 5 arrived 3 minutes later and advised of a 2-story townhouse with smoke showing from the front of the building. The occupant was outside and she advised the clothes dryer was on fire. She also advised she was the only occupant. Firefighters entered the townhouse and extinguished the fire. Fire had extended away from the dryer but not out of the room. There was smoke and heat damage to the rest of the residence. The townhouses on both side and behind the fire residence were checked. All had some smoke with elevated carbon monoxide readings. All were ventilated for an extended period of time. The neighboring townhouse occupants were allowed to return.

The cause of the fire was lint in the clothes dryer and the exhaust vent. The occupant will not be able to live in the house until repairs can be made. She advised she had somewhere to stay. The DFD responded with three engines, one ladder, a safety officer, a chief officer, and members of the Fire Marshal's Office. We received assistance from the Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, and Danville Utilities. All personnel remained on scene for two hours.
