Danville Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the return of a bikeshare system for our community. Danville Rides—the city’s bikeshare program—temporarily ended with the closure of Zagster in 2020. However, through the latter half of 2020, Parks and Recreation entered a year-to-year contract with Tandem Mobility LLC to ensure the residents and visitors of our community have the opportunity to experience Danville in a unique way.
Users are able to access the bikes for $3/hour by using the Movatic app—available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The bikes are stationed at these multiple locations across Danville: • Sandy Creek Trailhead • Biscuitville Trailhead • Community Market Trailhead • Dan Daniel Memorial Park • Main Street Plaza
“We know the bikeshare system was enjoyed by so many members of our community, as well as visitors to our area,” said Parks and Recreation Director, Bill Sgrinia. “We made it a priority to get Danville Rides up and running again, and we could not be happier that we are partnering with Tandem Mobility LLC to make that happen.”
Tandem Mobility LLC, was born in 2020 out of a desire to help develop and manage complete micromobility solutions with community partners. The company’s unique community-focused approach offers flexibility in program structure and design, allowing bikeshares to exist and succeed in small to medium sized communities. Including Danville, it is operating in eight markets across the US with additional growth expected in 2021.
Tandem Mobility LLC Founder and CEO, Keli Hoyt-Rupert, expressed her excitement about adding Danville to the company’s roster of bikeshare partners, saying “We are so excited to be launching our next bike share program in Danville. At Tandem Mobility LLC, we pride ourselves on building community focused solutions. Bikeshare with a goal of keeping a community active and engaged, even amidst a pandemic, is so important and we are glad to be a part of it here in Danville."
The bikeshare system is up and running at the time of this announcement—and Danville Parks and Recreation encourages the community to get out and experience Danville Rides in a brand new way.
