The City Council will meet on Tuesday, May 18, in a business session. No work session is scheduled. The business session will begin at 7 p.m. and will be aired by River City TV. Watch it live on cable (Comcast channel 10 and RiverStreet Networks channel 122) or streaming on the River City TV Facebook page.
The session will be held in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of the Municipal Building, which is located at 427 Patton St.
The City Council is scheduled to vote on several matters:
- A resolution approving the City of Danville operating budgets of various funds for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1. A public hearing was held earlier this month.
- A resolution approving the City of Danville capital and special projects plan for the next fiscal year. A public hearing was held earlier this month.
- A resolution approving the Danville Public Schools budget for the next fiscal year. A public hearing was held earlier this month.
- Appointments to 11 boards and commissions, including the Airport Commission, Danville Development Council, Utility Commission, Social Services Advisory Board and Transportation Advisory Board.
- A resolution approving the transfer of real property at 500 Main St. from the Industrial Development Authority to the City of Danville. The property is currently a vacant lot and was formerly the location of the Downtowner Motor Inn, which was removed from the property approximately 10 years ago as part of the city blight program. It is also where the "HOME" sign is currently displayed. Upon approval of this transfer, the lot will be managed by the City's Parks and Recreation Department.
- Appropriation of a $150,000 grant to study flash flooding along Apple Branch in the vicinity of Riverside Drive and Audubon Drive.
- Appropriation of $186,102 for recreational enrichment program funding.
Also, the City Council is scheduled to review the last financial reports.
