UPDATE: 05-20-2021 Danville man killed in shooting

May 20, 2021 Update:

Investigators charged 19-year-old Majusty Miles, of Danville, with second-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of Jontavious Logan.  

Police arrested Miles in Danville without incident and he was held without bond.  

Neither of the men lived in Purdum Woods Apartments. Evidence at this point in the case indicates that Miles and Logan knew one another and the shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between the two of them.

Danville Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead.

At 7:43 pm this evening, officers were dispatched to Purdum Woods Apartments at 1575 Richmond Blvd on a report of someone having been shot. Responding officers located a male laying on the sidewalk near the K building who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. 

Officers immediately began to render first aid and CPR. The victim was identified as Jontavious Logan, 19 years of age, of Danville. He was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators and crime scene continue to work through the night to collect evidence and follow leads. More information will be released when it becomes available.
