The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 154 Orchard Dr last night (August 30, 2021) at 8:09 pm. Crews arrived on scene at 8:13 pm and found a medium size, one story house with heavy smoke showing from the roof. Engine 5’s crew (from Third Ave Fire Station) pulled a hand line to begin an interior attack on the structure to extinguish the fire in the attic space. Shortly after entering the house fire started coming through the roof, and crews had to exit the structure for defensive operations. Ladder 1 (from Lynn St Fire Station) used their ladder pipe to knock down most of the fire before handline operations were continued.
The house sustained heavy fire, smoke, heat and water damage. The house was occupied at the time of the fire, but all occupants were located safely outside.
The Danville Fire Department initially responded with five engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, and a safety officer. 22 fire personnel were on the scene for about 3 hours. The Danville Life Saving Crew assisted on scene.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
