The Danville Fire Dept. responded to a reported structure fire at 660 Franklin St. this afternoon at 4:02 pm.  Crews arrived at 4:06 and found heavy smoke coming from a small sized 1-story house.  Ladder 1's crew pulled a handline and entered the home to extinguish the fire.  E3 arrived and established a water supply and entered the home to conduct a primary search for any occupants.  E2 and E5 also arrived and assisted in various fire-ground assignments.  The fire was knocked down and determined to be under control at 4:47 pm.  The home sustained moderate damage with water and smoke damage throughout the home.  The occupants of the home was safely located outside of the home.

The Danville Fire Dept. responded with three engines, one ladder truck, one command unit, one support unit and on Fire Marshal.  Sixteen fire personnel were on scene for two hours.  The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Electric Dept., and the Danville Water and Gas Dept. assisted on the scene.

The cause of the fire was investigated by the Fire Marshal's office and determined the cause was from soldering copper piping in the crawl space to close to combustibles.  No injuries were reported.  The occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
